Mentoring

Education is a vital tool for young people to overcome the hurdles of language and culture.

As a mentor for the SMILE project you will support on a 1-to-1 basis a refugee child who is struggling to access education. Together you will make a plan for their educational and learning needs and support them to access school or college. You will then support them during their settling period in education.

Quote from SMILE mentorEach child is different and has different interests, needs, hopes and aspirations. Therefore, as well as helping them access education, you might help your mentee to access artistic activities if they are arty or sporting activities if they enjoy sport.

Your mentee may benefit for exploring their local museums and parks, or simply just want someone to talk to who will listen to them in a nonjudgmental manner.

The minimum time commitment for this role is 3 months.
