Volunteer

Did you know that volunteering is good for your health? Recent studies have suggested that doing a good deed can give you a greater sense of well-being and strengthen your immune system. You also get the satisfaction of using your skills and experience to help others, and be part of the UK’s leading refugee organisation. It looks great on your C.V and it can be a great way to ‘test out’ working in a particular role. You get to meet different people, learn new skills, and it's fun!

Quote from SMILE mentorAt SMILE you will get comprehensive training, including good practice, the UK education system, issues related to support and asylum of refugee children, and child protection. You will also get access to other high quality training sessions delivered by the Refugee Council, depending on your particular needs and wishes. You will also get access to job opportunities here at the Refugee Council.

We will make sure that you are thoroughly supported, including regular supervision with the volunteer coordinator and telephone support for queries and emergencies.

So, just giving up one or two hours of your time a week can have a huge benefit for both you and others.
